Answer 18

Do you always set off with clean windows and lights?

Correct Answer: YES

18. All round clear vision is most important to maximise your ability to see hazards clearly and thus make proper assessments. Similarly, particularly at night, it is important that all lights are clean so that you can see and be seen.

Regular checks of windscreen wiper blades and washer bottle levels will also ensure maximum vision in poor weather conditions. Remember to clean away film that has built up on the inside of your windows, this is particularly noticeable in bright sunlight or at night.

Reduced visibility through lack of maintenance could be a contributory factor to an accident.
