Bob Smalley, Chief Examiner stepping down

There's never a good time to step down from doing something that you have really enjoyed, but for me the time has arrived. When I retired from the police service in 1990 and took on the role of Chief Examiner, I could never have imagined that I would still hold that privileged position in 2013. I say privileged because of the opportunities it has given me to become involved in the development of driver safety and to work with so many hard working dedicated volunteers both as members of our voluntary groups and examiners. I have so many happy and rewarding memories far too many to mention. Privileged also being able to work with Road Safety Professionals and those within the Emergency Services, the Driving Standards Agency and Department for Transport to bring about significant change and progress, thus I believe making a contribution to the drop in road deaths and serious injuries seen over the last decade.

To RoSPA and those that have supported me in my work I am extremely grateful.
