Why should you be Interested?

Unlike car drivers who can rely on in-car protection in a crash, the only thing that really keeps us safe on two wheels is what’s between our ears, our knowledge, our skills and the attitudes we take with us out onto the road.

You may think that you are good but the really good rider is the one that admits that they can never afford to stop learning.

RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders is a nationwide organisation dedicated to improving driving and riding standards, knowledge and skill by providing free advanced training to help improve and strengthen your riding skills, helping you become a safer and more experienced rider.

How does it all work?
RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders is a section of RoSPA, one of the foremost safety advisory and training organisations in the world. Local groups have been formed to offer free training, support and advice to any rider who wishes to improve their riding skills and pass the Advanced Test.

RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders operate in a very practical style by creating local groups of volunteers, all of whom have passed the Advanced Test and have been trained to pass on their knowledge to others. Groups often work closely with police advanced riders and instructors to ensure that the standards outlined in Roadcraft, the police drivers handbook, are maintained.

Before taking the test you should study the current editions of The Highway Code and Roadcraft. Without a good knowledge of both you are unlikely to obtain a high grade.

What makes me a better rider?

Becoming a better rider involves reviewing and adapting your riding skills to keep in pace with ever changing road and traffic conditions. This will ensure that you get the best out of your vehicle.

Because we want to maintain the highest standards we require that you re-take the test every three years. However, that re-test is free with your yearly membership fee.

Many riders know that they could become even better but think advanced riding is for others. Some believe that advanced training and the high standards are restricted to police riders. That is not the case. With a little training and support you will realise how good you can become and you will join the ranks of some of the best riders in the country.

* Please note that you will need a valid and up to date photocard licence before partaking in your test. Failure to do so will result in your test being cancelled.
